Bridal makeup: Do’s and Don’ts

Since bridal season is here I wanted to share with all my lovely brides some do’s and dont’s. This is for all the brides that will be doing their own makeup.

Do’s and Don’ts

1. Use Primer for face and on your eyes. This will hold your makeup all day, help your makeup application look  smoother and also control the oils in the skin. There are many primers on the market so make sure you choose the one that best suits your skincare needs.

2. Do not wear colours that are too bright. Try sticking to natural colours and stay away from anything too shinny. Its your wedding day, which means you want to look like a better version of your enhanced self. Save the colour for a night in the city.

3. Remember to drink lots of water 2-3 months before your wedding. Keep your skin hydrated, makeup will look 10x better on a healthy skin.

4. Bring blotting paper around with you all day. Don’t use touch up powders because they can look thick and cakey if you’re using it all day long.

5. Lip stains are great if you don’t want to touch up as often.

6. All your eye products should be waterproof. Eyeliner, mascara and even eyeshadow (eye primers can make your eyeshadows waterproof).

7. Don’t get a pre wedding facial. This can make you breakout or cause a reaction. You want to stop the month before your wedding if you want facials done.

8. Make sure you exfoliate your skin very well. The last thing you want is your makeup looking flaky and uneven.

9. Always practice your makeup before hand. Don’t try to freestyle the makeup on the day of your wedding. Practice makes perfect.

10. Lastly, USE A SETTING SPRAY! For all the brides going somewhere hot, you are going to need this. It will save your life. lol.

( Setting spray recommendations: Makeup forever, Urdan decay, Model in a Bottle and Lise Waiter.)
